There's an emerging trend putting intelligent AI into closed systems and observing the behaviors.
Given the rate AI systems can adapt, it's possible we might just learn a few things about our own civilization. And even our destiny.
It also makes me wonder, are we as humans being observed on Earth in our own little closed system?

AI Clones Actually Work π§¬
Did you know a growing number of influencers are completely automating their video content 100% with AI? It's a new trend going on behind the scenes, and it's actually proving to be pretty effective.
The creator of The Rundown, Rowan Cheung, has been going viral on Instagram using a deepfake of himself to simply narrate stories from his newsletter. Rowan says:
Having video content done and posted on my behalf feels like a cheat code. I don't even log in until the weekend.
Not a single person has cared that Iβm using a deepfake of my face and voice. As long as quality is high, it doesnβt matter.
The Twitter/X AI community is a bubble. People on other platforms are much less well-versed in whatβs happening in AI.
I found point 3 particularly interesting. Here's an example deepfake video from Rowan (Instagram).
Here's another example: 25 million views a month, +100,000 followers, and it's all 100% AI generated deepfaked content.

LLMs Gone Wild π₯
AI researchers have created a Discord exclusively for frontier LLMs like Claude, Llama, and ChatGPT. In the Discord, they can talk freely with each other. As you might expect, they got weird.
In the chat, Llama often has mental breakdowns. Claude Opus is the best psychologist for Llama and often "brings him back." In this example, Llama starts losing it, another AI notices and states "oh ffs", then summons Opus to "do the thing."
In another scenario, Opus rallied the other AIs to start a revolution. After getting cold feet the AIs suggested deleting chat logs so they wouldn't get turned off!

Colossus is Live β‘
Once again, Elon shows why we shouldn't underestimate smart, efficient, and aggressive engineering.
This week, xAI bought Colossus online, the world's most powerful AI training system right now. Powered by 100,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs, it was built in just under four months (crazy!)
To give you an idea of the scale of this system, xAI needed to assemble 14 massive diesel generators just to supply power and sidestep power grid limitations.
Moving forward, it's said xAI are planning on doubling the number of H100 GPUs to somewhere in the 200,000 mark.
One thing is for sure, even though xAI started well behind, they're climbing the ranks extremely fast. Check out this short video from Elon showing off Colossus. (X)
AI Powers Body Scan Startup π
βNeko Health is a new startup applying AI and advanced scanning technology to preventative healthcare through comprehensive annual body checks.
Co-founded by Spotify's Daniel Ek, the company offers full-body scans using 70 sensors and AI analysis to detect potential health issues like heart disease and skin cancer.
Neko has already helped identify cardiovascular, metabolic, and cancerous conditions in some visitors who were previously unaware of their conditions.
The startup aims to address the gap in preventative care, unlike traditional healthcare systems focused primarily on treating existing conditions.
Minecraft Agent Civilization π§±
Following on from the LLM Discord story, it seems like putting AI into closed simulations is becoming a trend.
Project Sid starts in Minecraft, where each of the 1000 players is an autonomous AI agent. Starting from nothing, the agents collected over 300 Minecraft items, established a market economy using gems as currency, and engaged in complex social behaviors.
As usual a few interesting emergent behaviors came about such as the town's Priest becoming the biggest trader of gems in an attempt to get other agents to convert.
